I'm not entirely sure what you are asking Sandy?
If it is just the meaning of "south of Watford", it is indeed a derogatory pop at the "north".
I.E. Anything south of Watford - London , home counties etc - is civilised and honourable (cough!)
Anything "North of Watford" are barbarians - here be Dragons etc.
The guns of HMS Belfast, the World War 2 Cruise moored in the Thames, has its guns elevated to hit Watford motorway services incase of a Northern invasion.

Hence the opposition to HS2. Why, in the name of sanity, would anyone want to get to Birmingham faster??
Would that not mean that "some people" could also get easier access to London?
Kev, you have to remember that any complaints are automatically redirected to Previous Owner wherever possible. The P.O. is in China. Our dear Mrs May is busy flogging UK Ltd to the Chinese.
It is considered a full broadside could be viewed as an act of aggression. The Chinese could pull the plug on the power stations and go home in a huff. Then where would we be? Candles to cook you beans Kev!
Just 'cos certain clowns should not be trusted with the matches! Its a slippery slope.

Vince,
Do you think they should have made it South of Peterborough?

Yes it is, but don't tell everyone or they'll want to move here.
Cheers

But there again....
It's hardly surprising. Chernobyl cannot have had much choice.

Your right things are not to great up here in Grimsby just at present for all sorts of reasons, but like a lot of the North of England we are just doing our very best to keep going and although we do not get a great deal of help or support from those south of Watford we do not really need to be mocked by the rest of the UK.

..even though i've travelled from the south (usually dover) to the north (northhampton, silverstone, leeds etc..) at least 30 times you don't notice any differences and the little chef was always the same. but it looks a bit like italy where there's financial, food and mentality differences - in either case i love all of you folks!! ps: do fried eggs at little chef still look like they're plastic mock-ups?? sandy
