Total Amount Raised for Grumpy Bodger

PostPost by: Spyder fan » Thu Feb 19, 2015 8:38 pm

Dear All,
It was at the suggestion of John Clegg quickly endorsed by others that there should be a collection for John Pelly. I was able to contact the friends and family who were organising John's funeral to ask if we could give a floral tribute, but as a proper "LOTUS" floral tribute had already been arranged it was suggested that we donate a card to go with this and that any money raised would go to the Hospice that cared for John in his final days.

I will have the pleasure of presenting a cheque to the Weston Hospice for the sum of ?575 GBP, in addition I will be making the donation as part of the UK Gift Aid scheme which means that the Hospice can claim a further 25% from Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs making the real total benefit just under ?720 GBP.

I will receive a receipt and thank you note from the hospice which I will post up here, and Tim Wilkes (trw99) will audit my Paypal account and verify the amount raised.

It's sad that our friend has passed away, but heart warming to see how well regarded he was here and elsewhere on the web, he won't be forgotten soon that's for sure.

Regards to all

Alan Thomas (Grumpy's apprentice)
Kindest regards

I think this is unprecedented on the forum, it shows just how well-regarded the Bodger was.

On behalf of all of us, thanks Alan.

Its wonderful you did that for John, I really miss him. Maybe a castle combe Lotus day, were he always brought the donuts and took my son round the track we could do a lap of honour for him. I think he would like that.

Dear All,
please see below for a letter received from the Hospice today, thanking us all for the donation. There will definitely be Donuts at Combe for this years Club Lotus track day. Look out for the sign "Grumpy's Elan Donuts"

Just to confirm that Alan and I met up for coffee this morning and I can verify the splendid total raised for the hospice. I am sure John is tickled pink up there.
