Bedding in rings

PostPost by: William2 » Thu Mar 23, 2017 5:59 pm

My rebuilt engine was honed and fitted with new rings, cam bearings, big ends and mains. I have covered about 350 miles but since seeing the advice on the forum I had kept the revs below 3000 as per the handbook thinking I was being sensible!!. Is it now too late to bed the piston rings in correctly by doing a series of acceleration runs to about 4500rpm as suggested?

Its best to do the acceleration runs immediately after starting a rebuilt engine to minimise the risk of glazing the bores and not bedding in the riings but It will not hurt to do the acceleration runs now
