EDIS Distributor Removal

I've just gotten my twin cam to run with a microsquirt powered EDIS setup. I forgot to order a distributor blank plug so for now, the distributor is still in the block with the old plug wires tied up out of the way. Two questions come up:
1: When I remove the distributor, have people removed the jackshaft as well? There is a note about doing this on triggerwheels.com, though it seems ridiculous. I also have an electric fuel pump so other than keeping the timing chain the correct length, this shaft does nothing.
2:What size blank plug should be used. Tiggerwheels.com lists a 27mm plug for the crossflow so I assume that is correct.
Thanks
Jim

Good point. forgot about that part. I did think the comment about removing it was ridiculous.

Hi
It also drives the fuel pump if used and is part of the timing chain travel location
