Engine Machinists

PostPost by: Apx » Thu Apr 28, 2016 9:50 am

I have recently moved to the west country, and am wondering if anyone can suggest a good machinist both for the bottom end and the head for an engine refurb. Cheers Neal.

Hi, welcome, I used Paul Inch in Plymouth to do my head. Very pleased with their work, they're a family business and have been here for years. They rebuild all engines and have experience of Twinks from years ago. Is that a bit far for you?

Guys, thanks for the replies and i think that distance is not going to matter too much. Its the head refurb that concerns me, that is to say that i want someone who knows what they are doing. As it comes apart, the bottom end is not looking too bad but the head will need new valves and guides for a start, but looks flat and a decent thickness at the moment prior to cleaning.
Cheers Neal

Neal,

I know this is not in your area, but I have been pleased with Serdi UK in Uxbridge. I have had bad experience with engine machinists and the distance becomes a minor problem compared to having the job done twice. I think it is well worth following up on machinists, before committing to doing work, do your best to ensure the people you choose are competent.
