It?s a casting number. They probably cast about 20 before they had to remake the sand mould so you?ll see T1 to T20

Is possible that T11 is from a 66 s3 dhc? I don't know if the engine is the original engine of the car.

The T casting numbers were to identify mold sets, they had around 20 sets in the foundry. These were a quality trace ability number so if they had problems with a block during machining they could trace any issues back to a specific mold set.

What is the engine number on the top of the inlet engine mount and the casting number at the bottom rear of the block on the exhaust side. These tell you more about the age of the block and if it was originally used in a Lotus. I the block is apart also look for letters stamped on the front face such as LB.

When casting each pour uses a fresh sand mold as the only way to get the block out is to destructively remove the sand.
As Rohan says the void formers (patterns) used to make the sand mold carry various identifying marks.
