S1 exhaust mounts

PostPost by: chrishawkins » Wed Oct 19, 2016 8:58 pm

Hi,

Does anyone have a photo showing the silencer mounts for an elan s1 with a transverse silencer. I have one mounted on the car but I am not 100% happy with it and cannot work out what the original mounting was like.

Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure there's a diagram in the parts manual, if you have access to one. I can upload a copy of the page if you don't.

Thanks for the replies

I have two manuals the old thin one and the later thick one, the thin one makes no referance to the exhaust. The later one does have a picture of the silencers although its not as good as the one below.

Image

The silencer I have is the top one and I have brought two rubber straps and two of the brackets shown but as the holes in the body may have been filled in the past its not clear where they should be. I found the below picture of an S3

Image

The left bracket looks as if its mounted through the boot floor at about 10 o'clock if looking at the spare wheel and the right one is on the angled part by the fuel tank, is this correct?

thanks again

May not change the direction you are going but i thought it worth mentioning that S1 mufflers have the inlet and outlet on the same side of the can ( sometimes called a 180) and are significantly smaller than what you are showing. S1service manual has a drawing of brackets and mounts page E22
