New Cam - which side?

PostPost by: vincereynard » Wed Jun 28, 2017 12:33 pm

I've ordered a new cam from Mrs Miller so, as they are identical, I will be able to install it as either inlet or exhaust.

Assuming a new (unworn) cam will probably have greater lift than an original, which would be the better side to install it?

if there was a lift difference I would put it inlet side - but if there is any perceptible wear leading to lift reduction I would change the camshaft.

If you are not using new followers lap any witness marks out.

It can have a new cam on the other side when it has behaved itself for 6 months. :?

"Witness marks"! Nice phrase.
