Both nice cars! I also have a 67 Pre Air-flow Coupe. I might be mistaken but I don't think so. All 67 Pre Air Flow Coupes I think were SE's. That being said, the valve cover should be Hammertone Green for the 117 HP SE Motor. Also, the holes in the engine compartment probably should have been round but these can me covered up with a stainless screening under a rectangular plate with two round holes in the plate. See pics on this forum. It was to relieve under hood air pressure and facilitate radiator cooling.

And my fathers first NEW car was also a 1959 Ford Country Sedan in the same color of Wimbleton White. His had the blue interior, 9 passenger, six cylinder, automatic. What a slug! And the wipers would nearly stop when you put your foot in the throttle (which was all the time with that drivetrain)!!!

Nice buy,
Frank

Seems the inner wing mod was commonly done to improve airflow through the engine bay, having done a bit of Googling:-

Cutting SQUARE holes was not the best idea though, you get excessive stress in the corners. Round or elliptic holes are better.

The holes were cut out in its early life by previous owner... There was evidence of grill/cowl fixing holes as well...

"all pre airflows were SE models" !!!!! Bugger I didn't know that !

Hows the new Donut?

So what is different on a 'SE' pre airflow

Ben (Feb 66 pre airflow but no mention of SE anywhere )

Hi Guys

Thanks for the feedback :)

Will replace the donuts as a matter of course - but doubt they're the cause of the slight wallowiness? Will try to get her in and up in the air this weekend to see what's what and report findings next week

Dark green hammertone duly ordered :)

Will look into tidying the inner wing with some mesh - did look at it with a view to making the holes circular, but it's not a goer...

Didn't know Amy was Wimbledon White - that's nice to know, and thanks for the gen :)

Cheers

Matt

"All pre-airflows were SEs"

Only Federal models. Domestic models still came as cooking or SE. In fact all Federal Elans were SE models after 1966 as I recall.

Pretty sure that this is non-SE, and it's definitely pre-Airflow!
