Another +2 back on the road

PostPost by: Peter +2 » Sat Jul 04, 2015 12:02 pm

With some relief my +2 BRM is now back on the road after taking leave back in 2003.

Without doubt if it wasn?t for the support of this forum and Club Lotus the car would still be in the garage awaiting attention. I still have a few sundry items to sort out and as you can see from the pics I am in search of a letter ?L? and ?R?.

As always any help and guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all that helped.

Thank you all for your kind replies, it?s difficult to see where five+ years went as the body work has been untouched and looks pretty normal. I thought it would be a simple rolling recommissioning, a car to use not show, but once the +2 went on axle stands practically everything slowly came off the chassis to be replaced or reconditioned. I thought I was done about 18 months ago until I noticed that the wiring loom behind the dash was fried.

I now look forward to just driving it, that is, after fixing a few rattles in the boot and the timing is off so the engine sounds rough and is not pulling well.

Bud ? Bumper bolts?, something to add to the list!
El ?Torro ? Super offer, I will send you a pm
Randy ? Keep going so there will soon be another +2 on the road
Kevin & Richard - I?ll post some pics when it stops raining which is now, perfect weather for the British Grand Prix. For the time being here is a pic of where it all began with my first +2. As a true Lotus virgin I bought a multi owner car not knowing it had a cracked chassis, donuts about to let go, engine that was about to expire but boy did it fly! a complete revelation compared to my Spitfire before,,,,,,, oh and the girls loved it!
