Period stickers

PostPost by: innesw » Sun Jan 27, 2013 1:19 am

Hi,

Looking for suggestions of period 70's stickers to put in my car windows. Motorsport based preferably.
I already have a couple Castrol and STP stickers that my dad had spare kicking about his garage.

Being born in 1990 doesn't help...

Salut Innes

I bought a nice-looking and discrete Girling Power Stop glass sticker from these people:

http://www.classiccapsule.com

They have a good range and are quick and courteous. Search 'Lotus', 'glass', 'triplex', 'girling', 'castrol', 'britax', 'kangol', etc.

Hey Innes, I celebrated my rebuild with one of these. I think I bought the stickers from the same place as Vernon.

Bullet holes were popular & looked pretty real when properly positioned.
They set off the Tiger's tail on the fuel filler nicely.

(Yes, of course I did!)

Haha super thanks guys!

I quite like this sticker, either for the passenger window or crash pad!

What about the Gulf horseshoes? Look at any period Ford GT40!

Salut

I forgot about isaydingdong.co.uk. I bought a pair of lotus sill protectors from them. Came quickly and well packed - though they won't offer protection for long being made of vinyl.

Ok so I'll explain

70's: You didn't have to wear a seat belt. If you hurt yourself it was your own damn fault.
Now: You do have to wear a seatbelt. If you hurt yourself it is someone else's fault.

70's: Advertising fags (cigarettes) was ok - everyone knew smoking was bad for them....
Now: Advertising fags is banned and if it makes you ill it is someone else's fault

70's: James could shag anything that moved and wear the badge
Now: he would be arrested, sued, and in the papers for it

70's: The BBC did not show F1 because Durex sponsored one of the cars
Now: The BBC would run a documentary promoting the safe sex message

So to truly get the nostalgia of '70's motorsport you will need to be politically incorrect.
