What number is a Lotus Seven?: 7
I have a +2 Elan Lotus .

I past times i have seen a rally car with a cover on the water pump hole in the engine .
The cover had a pipe connection and the water came in with a electric pomp .
The belt is directly connected with the alternator .
Is this not a option for the Big Valve Twin Cam engine ?

I also have seen a pump wit a extern fixing plate for the lotus elan ( see the picture included ) . What dou you think about it ?

Al the best .

Anton from Belgium .

Hi Anton
I run a big valve twin cam in a sprint.
When the engine was rebuilt, I had the mechanical water pump replaced but I dont use it. I have a Davies Craig water pump located at the bottom of the rad (which is not standart (Caterham race) and much further forward than usual)
I kept the old water pump in case I had an electrical crisis and I carry a second belt that runs the pump and alternator if it is needed but I havent needed it so far.
The electric pump seems to run happily with the water pump in place and not running.
It is easy to adjust the running temperature through the pump control unit.
Hope this helps.
Gavin

Easy - its only a machine at the end of the day !

I should mention - if you use the davies craig controller, they ask you to remove the thermostat. I did and I lost the heater so I fitted the thermostat ring (cutting out the centre section) and it works fine now.

Good luck

Gavin
