S2 washer bottle mount

PostPost by: EnfoKen » Sun Jun 05, 2011 12:47 am

Hi,
Does anyone have a picture of how the washer bottle is mounted on an
LHD S2? It seems the hand brake cable interferes with it.
I searched on this forum but could not find anything.
Thanks
KA

Is it just me that finds the washer all but useless? Maybe it is the manual pump but either way next time I do an ?lan I wil install an electric wash pump.

There is a 10mm birch plywood spacer the size of the mounting pad (1/2 by 2 1/2 inch, a guess from memory :) ) on the water bottle bracket with a pair of holes drilled in it. This plywood standoff allows the the bracket to captivate the handbrake cable sheath on a LHD S2 Elan. How a RHD S2 was done I don't know. I found out today while looking for the parts that the RHD and LHD Handbrake pulls are different.

They're all great... apart from maybe the pistachio coloured ones

And Ardee_Selby has a very valid point.

Thanks, my car does have a wood spacer. I wondered if it was original.
I really appreciate the help.
