Bad starting car - but...

My car was harder and harder to start until it almost was impossible to start.
There was a nice, high speed cranking Brise starter, full 12.5 V at the coil, first electronic, then contact ignition (which made it even worse), clean, shiny dizzy cap, good plugs. Just didn't start. After starting, with engine warmed up, there was no problem.
People told me its ignition timing, valve settings, etc... but then it would not run so smoothly when warm.
Thursday I took the dizzy cap apart - the clamping screw for the coil wire entrance was full of oxides... Replaced the new alu interiors cap by an old brass one from the scrap yard - car was starting on the fourth short cranking - after almost one year of standing still. With one year old fuel - and - contacts!
Sometimes it's small things that can make a system break down
