See the above for a similar wheel I am considering for my car. These are from Kelvedon and seem a good price. Perhaps the Image Wheels are a higher quality. These are similar price to the Minilites

I fitted Revolution wheels on Kelveden 26R hubs to my car. I bought the wheels used, very cheaply and had them slightly modified to use on the 26R hubs. They are light, look good and were a fraction of the ridiculous cost of repro 26r wheels:


After several thousand miles I have no problem with wheels loosening. The Revolution wheels have 3.75" pcd mounting holes so I had Kelveden supply the front hubs undrilled and I had them drilled to accept both 3.75" and 4.0" pcd drive pegs. At the rear I simply had a set of 3.75" holes drilled at 90 deg to the 4.00" existing holes (thus lightening the steel hubs as well!) . The front hubs are LM14 alloy I think they said-it is very tough and saves a huge amount of unsprung weight.
At some point I may get the Image LM4 wheels and fit them on 4.0" pcd.

...I have some revolution wheels here too - would like to work out how to get a spacer plate made to allow them to fit on 26r 4 peg hubs...

No spacer plate , just drill 4 new holes to match diameter and peg you have

I agree with Gino--why not use the existing holes that the plate is retained with? Or, use your existing k/o hubs and get lightweight knock-offs made.

You can use these wheels but just machine another four recesses/holes to accommodate the 26R hub...

How wide does the spacer plate need to be ?

I would build it as funds permit as close to full race spec as you can as all you will do over the years it buy twice when you want to go quicker !

Hill climbing is fine but its a long day for 8 minutes of fun or less. One good track day will give you the racing bug as the Elan is so fantstic to drive and is so quick relative to so many other sports cars. You will passing Porsche as though they are standing still.

So, start with full race TT 26R chassis and suspension and drive shafts, a 4.4 lsd diff and you will go round the corners as fast as any one, and then just the bits to comply with the race / hill climb rules. Then as funds come in, upgrade untill you stuff the car and need a new 26r shell ... or blow the engine up and go to Craig Beck for a rebuild to give you 180bhp.

Engine back - exciting step - 1680cc tall block dyno'd at 147bhp and masses of torque, should be great.

Following your progress with interest. I have a similar spec to what you are doing. My engine is 1720 (short block) and must have about the same amount of power as yours-it goes very well indeed!

Like you I will be replacing the modified wheel arches at some point with 26R style-I have looked at them for nine years now and they haven't grown on me yet! The problem is, I have a pretty good paint job on the car right now...

What are you planning on doing for the cooling system?

Hmmm, you appear to have the industrial strength credit card!

...going to use the Revolution wheels as a spare set if I can get them adapted.
