I see PMS has started advertising cars on EBay. He has a Zetec +2 at £17K - item no. 120458086173
Just curious - is this a good price for a Zetec from a dealer? I thought I'd seen >£20K for these privately...

IMHO, it depends how well it has been rebuilt. This looks like a Spyder job to me, therefore good (this is a guess, but it has the wheels they used to supply, the leather trim and the Motolita wheel). I think the average price is 15k (mine was 12k, Spyder built but without the interior or paint)....so if the colour suits you sir, I think this is about the right price, bearing in mind I am more than half way spending another 6 on mine to get exactly what I want. This car would not be what I wanted because the carpet needs to match the leather for me....so I would have to spend another 1500 on replacing the red leather (or if I was unbelievably lucky I could find a carpet to match for a couple for hundred). It also needs taxing every year.

And for those fickle reasons, I'm out.

Hang on a minute....is that a mohair webasto I see lurking on its roof? Or just a funny reflection?

Times must be hard, obviously, for PM to join us plebs on eBay.

I saw this car a couple of weeks ago and was a little interested until I realised it was a 1973 make.
When I took a closer look I was really put off by the vile red interior.
And there is a sunroof fitted.

£25k buys one straight from Spyder, and £15k seems to be the going rate for used versions. This one has Jenvey throttle bodies, but I don't know what ECU is linked to them. So I guess £16k may be a fair price.

Is this also a tax issue? I wonder if the free road license ones sell for more.....

You're absolutley correct, Rich.

Pathetic, I know, but it’s a matter of principle.

I am on your side. I would not have bought mine if it had been the wrong age.

Looks like a well finished car, with unusal colour interier is that a black headlining I see ?
still I like the idea of people trying something different and I quite like it

This is the problem when you personalise a car to much will it appeal to others
when you want to sell? Far better to keep it and enjoy your creation

Interesting observation.....looks quite good. Might do the same on mine. Never really liked the way the white runs down and then suddenly changes.

 I like it, well spotted, probably the only thing thats standard is the body. Nothing on my zetec is standard anyway!

The dark red leather looks a bit amateur in the fit and looks department, might not have been done by Spyders normal trimmer, the colour is lairy enough but it looks a bit saggy in places. My interior looks like it could have come from the factory, apart from the fact that its an extremely non standard shade of light tan, look at the gallery for Royal Blue Zetec +2 and you will see what I mean
