I am right in thinking that the +2 never came with black gunk on the sills as standard?

The previous owner who is a lotus Club member informs us that there are less than 1200 Plus 2 Elans left (1967 - 1975) so this may explain the recent upsurge in prices and gives this vehicle a good investment potential

And finally proof in black and white on the numbers of +2's left.

Chris.

From memory the +2's I had did not have bodyshutz or underseal if you like on the cills. The bottom 'lip' did have a black finish but I am sure was the same as the Elan. Kinda satin black finish.

Nice looking car though. 11k for it on the face of it looks fair - low ish...

Hmm. Depends whether the paint really is blemish-free. I suspect there will be considerable crazing and blistering, which would bring it the 7-8k bracket for me.

Doesn't look like an original Lotus colour to me.

I dont think the black paint upto the sill was standard.......
the 'flange' through which the bolts for the sills go I have painted in matt black/sealer ...the bit under the car.....

but that was my choice to try to stop the bolts and the sills rusting and letting any water in

And he must have moved it backwards and forwards 500 times. Look at all those oil stains on his patio!

We're all very critical today aren't we :? I actually think it looks like it could be a nice example, certainly seems no worse than some that appear on the likes of Pistonheads for a lot more money.
