oil scavenging issues.

I am very concerned about my rope seal motor and its ability to pulll
oil up into the pump. I am happy to create trap doors and the like.
Is there a good design known to work well? Is there a better oil
pickup?

If this is redundant, I apologize.

How does the head drain? Only that one pass-through connector down to
the block? Does it hold oil up there, starving the oil pan?

My one time on the track with this car, not fast, all right turns, and
I had zer0 oil pressure down hills and on the brakes.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, there is some oil hold up in head but not enough to starve the sump.
Issues are in the sump. Cortina's could not pull the G's that an Elan can
pull. There are reasonable after-market sump mods or you can do it
yourself. Dave Bean is a source in US. My Lotus Super 7 had a home made
trap system that worked with Super Vee cantilever tires on a full race
setup. Build it yourself or go to a reputable supplier. The standard sump
is not good for competition.
