gearbox bearings and seals

PostPost by: saildrive2001 » Sun Aug 20, 2006 5:46 pm

Hi All,

Does anyone have a list of part #'s for bearings and seals for the gearbox and diff? the part #'s I have from one of the elan books appear to be obsolete. I am more concerned with the seal #'s because of compatability of materials vs oils, heat etc.

Thanks
Scott

I will see if I can dig them up in the next couple of days. I just bought
all of the same bearings and seals this past spring. Dave Bean and
Christopher Neal have all of the info as well.

Where are you located and what type of car/gearbox/diff do you have?

ontario canada, 69 S4 se, 4spd, 3.55 diff. I have done some clean up on the diff components and am also going to need to either fix or replace the casting as well. the thrust washer spun and chewed up the face it bears against, and the non bearing end has damage as well, not sure why as it shouldn't really receive much load except on overrun, and the laygear shaft is pitted. hopefully the diff is in better shape.

Are you talking about the thrust washers on the laygear ends in the
gearbox? The only TWs I know of in the diff are behind the spider gears.
