Hi

I have a '69 Elan +2 for which I need a left rear hub. If you have one,
or know of someone who even MIGHT have one, please let me know. This
has been hanging up progress on my car.

Thanks Alan

Alan,

I believe I have a pair. Where are you located?

Hi Mark

I'm in Davis, CA. That's near Sacramento. Are these +2 hubs? The
folks at Dave Bean say that the +2 hubs are slightly longer than the
regular Elan hubs. But if I took both sides, that should resolve the
problem.

Thanks Alan

You may end up with clearance problems with the wider plus 2 wheels and
tyres and the lower spring support if you change to the shorter Elan
rear hubs.

Alan,

It's not that they are slightly longer, but they were made with a
different offset. This may result in the +2 hub being slightly longer,
but the real problem would be where the wheel mounting surface would be.
It's been way too many years since I compared the two, but trust me, you
need +2 hub only.

I will double check tonight, but I think they are about 1/4 inch wider than the baby Elan hubs. Different part number on them also.

Morning, Alan.
I have some baby Elan pin drive hubs and if you are down this way, I am
in El Sobrante, just 6 miles north from Berkeley, moments off 80 and we
can compare your +2 hub and mount them on some spare Elan uprights, if
you wish.
There are four Climax Elites, one Seven America and couple of
Elite/Elans (1725 cc Stromberg TC with C-4 automatic and a 1460 cc
Coventry Climax fitted with a 280zx 5 speed, all nestled in a 4.125 inch
stretched Elan chassis under striking Type 14 body shells) for you to
drive, too.
Cheers. Mike.
