An Elan Question (Honest)

PostPost by: "SMITH, THOMAS B. (J » Wed Aug 04, 1999 2:46 pm

My Seven has had a complete Elan rear suspension and differential grafted on
by the PO. It works very well with the 1600 crossflow (95 HP) and is a big
improvement over the solid axle. But I want to increase the power. My
question is how much horsepower can the standard rear end of an Elan handle?
It has the standard rubber donuts, etc, and even has the section of the rear
frame. Also, can I take advantage of the difference in weight between the
Seven (1200 lbs) and Elan (less torque on the components?)?

Thanks,
Tom Smith
