Metalalflake roof on Elan?

The later +2's featured gold or silver roof finish and I just wonder if anyone has painted thus on a FHC ?
Be interested to see what it might look like !

Never seen it at Lotus meets on any FHC but from my experience with it on my +2, lots of people don't like it. I do however and also like the silver but-painted-roofed early Elites I've seen. Could be nice on a FHC although not on two tone one. Gordon Sauer

Hum, never tried a foto attachment before, so not sure if it has worked - supposed to show a red/gold roof Elan (probs just a hard top but in right direction)
Let me know if foto not visible, together with any advice on how to successfully upload !

I tried a silver roof on my S2 Elan (Not FHC I realise).
- Spot the red Porsche diesel in the background!
After a short while I decided I preferred it one colour (with or without stripes)
- Seemed to go faster with the stripes
But I think it's all personal preference ...

Many of the later Elites (1961 / 1962) had silver roofs (rather than metalflake) which did suit pretty well.

Ah, good point about 'proper' Type 14 Elites - they had a small cabin top but certainly looked fine in metallic !

Hi Paul, Your car looks great in the solid blue. I am trying to decide what colour/shade of blue to paint mine. What colour of blue did you use on your car? Any chance you might have a picture of it without the roof, and before the stripes?
