Restored 1969 S4 SE

PostPost by: ROELAN » Wed Nov 08, 2017 3:08 pm

Recently received my car back after total restoration following fire.
A number of niggles one of which is a heavy clutch. Master and slave cylinders and clutch supplied by reputable lotus dealer. Any ideas?

Is it possible to fit the brake and clutch master cylinders the wrong way round. On my car they are different diameters, 0.625" clutch and 0.700" brakes.

Master cylinder has been checked with supplier who has said correct bore was supplied.

Would they have fitted a heavy duty clutch instead of a standard one? mine is heavy duty indeed... and in case of long heavy traffic (like coming back to the city from a week-end) I am careful anticipating stop-and-go to avoid calf cramp.

Certainly a heavy duty clutch was not intended and was not intentionally supplied. However mistakes happen and I am beginning to believe this may have happened. Unfortunately I think the only way to be sure is engine out. I too have experienced calf cramp.
