Apparently an Elan Sprint DHC has recently sold for ?75K. Original chassis and paint. Must gave been a one off to fetch that price.

The Hairpin Motor Company in Whiltshire UK. Have a look at the website as the car is still on there. It does look like a beautiful example.

Beautiful car in classy Regency Red, note how it looks to be a different colour in the pictures of the whole car, as opposed to the pictures of the interior (door shuts) & engine bay.

What a stunning car and a gorgeous colour. Red does look very different with sunlight on as opposed to flash, and I always find it a difficult colour to photograph well.

An "original" DHC Sprint is for sale with J D Classics at ?80k ... they purchased the car from another dealer who advertised it for ?55k. When you compare the respective sales particulars from each dealer maybe the car isn't as "original" as J D Classics would have you to believe. Still a very nice car, but not ?80k, unless the dealer is still inflating prices on behalf of its investors as detailed in recent court action.

But it's not original it's a car restored to orginal specification. New chassis and paint job. It's another example, like GHW (my ole mate's +2 for sale with Hexagon) of a car being passed around like a hot potato as everyone tries to wring a short term profit out of it. Jim

I've said it before: if it sells at that price, then there is evidence it is "worth it" on the basis that it's worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

Otherwise it is just the advertiser indulging in wishful thinking.

Big IF though. I don't know of any Sprint sold for ?75k. Let's see how long it takes to sell.

There?s only one way good Sprint prices are going and that?s north. And I don?t mean bitza restos...

As an aside I know what went into the JD classics Sprint.... A LOT!

If you want a good Sprint your looking circa ?50k imho, but that?s just my 2p worth..
