Should I buy this Elan?

PostPost by: fillpoke » Tue Oct 23, 2018 7:08 pm

Hi folks,
I'm after a bit of advice about whether to buy a particular Elan or not. I've been away from these cars for a few years although I've had plenty in the past. I'm just not sure of their value now.
Anyway, onto the car. It's a 1970 Series 4 FHC in red. It's running on Strombergs, has a new interior, a Spyder chassis from several years ago still in great condition and the car is generally really good. It has a full MOT without any advisories. I can get it for 22,000. Question is - should I buy it? What do you think?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Just wondering if you think the price is reasonable?

An Elan with good body and paint, good chassis and suspension, good interior trim and good mechanical's and has not been messed around with in a big way sounds like a good buy at the price.

Assuming your assessment of condition is right I would buy but if you don't know where the hidden issues maybe then best to get someone who does to have a look.
