Just got an S4 FHC and in the process of driving it home from the Seattle area, the trim strip decided to let go. Unfortunate because it actually fit well but now it's broken on one end where it stayed stuck in the slot between the bumper and the body. My goal it to refit it and not be concerned about the break but here's the question:

What is the best adhesive to use for the job, some polyurethane stuff? I plan on bonding it to the bumper, maybe even drilling some small holes in the leg of the "T" to facilitate bonding/attachment. Since this pix I did dig into my stash and got a non fed bumper without the silly plate notch, looks much better!

I used clear Silicone Bathroom Caulk from Home Depot & a screw either end per the original design.

Thx Phil, but one end is broken at about 3 inches and precludes me from fastening with the original style screws you mention, at least on one side. Plus it fits so well I want to go simply with adhesive, will consider the caulk.

Jerry, nice find ! It's a wonderful sickness we both relish!

Technology has come a long way in the approximately 50 years of our Lotus ownership. Today, I would use 3M self adhesive. It's cheap, comes in different widths and thickness (some are extremely this), and is super easy to apply. No messing with some stuff in a tube.

If that's too wide it comes even narrower. I just used this on the hardtop of my Elise to install new rubber seals.

Let's see some more pics. Hope you are healthy, happy, and prosperous!

Frank
