I would like to fit headrests to my 69 S4 SE.
Has anyone done this successfully.

obtain a pair of Federal seats with built in head rests......I assume this as opposed to your low back OEM seats?

Thanks for your response , but I have recently had new seats. My wife has been ill and needs some head support.
I was hoping to add a headrest to the existing seat .

It may not be your main concern but altering one of the most expensive components in your car won?t help the overall value etc.

I very much hope this is a temporary situation for your wife. Might I suggest an alternative idea that will be easy to reverse. Fit an aftermarket seat?? How about this:

You used to be able to get add on headrests that slid over the seatbacks - a bit like this -

Anyone still make these?

If you fit a Spyder roll cage you can fit headrests to it. The standard Spyder headrests are fairly basic, but I'm sure they could be adapted.

Spyder roll bar. A very expensive piece of kit just to add headrests. They are quite insubstantial but work surprisingly welll

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I will try the slip on headrest route.

I remember the slip on ones from lifts in cars in the 60s, they were not very good as far as I recall. Hopefully more modern ones are better.

This might do? Might not be a silly price either?
