Powder coating wheels?

PostPost by: rcfurse » Thu Apr 11, 2019 7:34 pm

I had a set of wheels powder coated a couple of years ago but they have started to rust in "the crack". Someone told me that it is very difficult to get even powder coating in narrow areas because the powder doesn't get attracted into the gap.
Has anyone got any suggestions or should I just get them painted? If so what paint is advised? Two pack?

If your car is a driver, I'd recomend using Dupli-color Wheel Coating. It's pretty good stuff. Aerosol cans, you can touch up skuffs, and with some brake dust it's hard to tell it was cheap if you do a good job.

Funny you should ask, I was just looking at the wheels on my TR4a today and they are rusting in the inner ring area exactly as you outlined. I have not had that happen with painted wheels
