Elan model

I don't often buy model cars and I had never seen a model Elan that interested me-1/43rd scale just doesn't do it for me. Then this appeared on ebay for $21 and I thought it was worth a try-it is very good value I think:

It is obviously not a '65 model as advertised on ebay but is a 66/67 S3 Coupe'. I wanted a model with a hardtop in place and this will do for me. It looks like the body could be removed fairly easily which would allow detailing of the engine and interior-if you are into that...
I got it from this listing and this is probably the only time I have had a handwritten address label from an ebayseller: It was free shipping when I ordered but I notice it isn't now. Other colours are available as well I believe.

Since that seller is almost sold out, here is another listing with different colour:

Ted, the one I received is 1/24th scale. The door and bonnet fit is better than my S2!

The Welly is 1:24.
It has a S4 body, not a S3 body.

seems easy to be modded, this guy made a DHC out of the FHC:

I have two 1/24th scale Elan S3 models from Gunze Sangyo. One fixed head coupe (which can be built as a drop head) and one drop head coupe. They are extremely detailed models.

One day I will get around to building them (when I don?t have real Lotus projects left to restore).

It does come apart quite easily, I modded mine to look like my sprint.

I buy the 1/43 scale corgi elans really cheap and take them apart, repaint them and put them back together. I currently have three! The best thing is that I can make a mock-up of my s2 in the various colours that I want to paint it and then choose the best.
You can buy them for as little as ?5 and then do them up. I am thinking about doing a special order service for Elan s1 and 2 owners.
Best regards, P
