I know the feeling of all moving forward then not moving! Hope to have mine on the road soon too.

So the wiring is going well. I found out that my heater loop is controlled by an aftermarket plumbing valve and it has been open since I owned the car, which explains my heat issue. The two-speed interior fan is now functioning so hopefully it will be less oppressive during driving.

Also the wiper motor is toast which isn't surprising given how anemic it was prior to starting this process. I have the oem "square body" and I'm going to have a bracket fabricated to wire in the later round body unit. The square bodies are really expensive on eBay and everyone wants a core back.

Interesting heater valve. Is that a hand-knob to control it? Looks non-automotive.

I'm using a heater valve that doesn't take up much more space than that and can be remote-operated by a cable. I think it's a replacement item for the valve used in some AMC and International Harvester vehicles. It got good reviews for reliability and was under $30. Haven't driven the car since it was installed so no real-world data, but I can dig out the receipt and give you info if you're interested.

I actually found a handful of decent replacements. I'm not sure why someone chose a plumbing valve but it doesn't show any signs of leaking or corrosion so I may just leave it in place, at least for now.

Maybe they were just emulating Lotus and using whatever was at hand at the moment. :mrgreen:

So where are you all getting your square-bodied wiper motors from (Lucas 14W, I believe)? There are a handful on eBay but all seem to be for other British brands. Could I get one for say a TR4 and swap it for mine since it failed?

In all probability yes, but you will need to change the gearing.

So we are in the final stretch. Because of what a bitch the console was to remove, I sent off the wiper motor, fuel gauge, and tach to be rebuilt at Nisonger. The tach was converted to work with the Petronix ignition. The fuel sending unit was replaced and now the tach and fuel gauge are fully functional. Everything on the car is functional. I'm just waiting on the wiper motor to come back from some shop down in SC.

The radiator was repainted flat black and the 10" fan wired up. At this point, besides the wiper motor, the timing needs to be set and the Webers tuned. She is almost ready to go through inspection.
