I am admin on the group. I think it is fantastic to see a forum dedicated to the earlier cars.
I would recommend anyone on here who has an interest to have a look.
Please don't think I am discouraging people to join Lotus Elan net, however I would like people to understand that it may connect people with other Lotus owners and may even bring more people onto this forum who currently do not know of it.
Best regards, P

A year now since this group started and fantastic that amongst the 500+ members they include people from 48 different countries.

There have been over 6000 posts and comments, anyone interested in in early Elans is very welcome to join. Search 'Lotus Type 26' or use the link below.

David,

In the spirit of fact checking, I notice from the Facebook page stats that you are averaging approximately 2 posts a day over the last month and 14 new members in the same period. Given the 6000 posts in 12 months, I take it there was a flurry of activity when the group started, and it is now slowing to a crawl.

This is not a criticism, and I wish you luck, but this is a common life-cycle of groups like this - without new fodder, the original group gets bored and disperses.

One of the remarkable things about lotuselan.net is the health of the site and the number of regular contributors.

I would disagree with that comment, I would say the group is as popular as ever and the amount of posts has little relevance, the conversations started form a single post expand into deep threads which can last for days.
I have never seen a facebook group go into decline, there are always members queries that can be answered on the group just like on this group.
Best regards, Peter

Andy

Not sure what you are trying to say re 'fact checking' - please see the attached graphs which speak for themselves and the activity and membership over the last 12 months.

This is a complementary group to Elan.net and is hopefully of use to those who choose to be members.

David,

I am not an expert on Facebook analytics, so apologies if I have misunderstood the activity on the group - I thought I had it figured out. As penance, I will go away and learn what the metrics actually mean.

Rgds,

No problem Andy - it's a great little group and some very active members.

And you can search old posts on here and find stuff veru very easily unlike freakbook!

Having a FB group for early cars is not a criticism of this forum!
