hi, I was lucky enough to purchase an Elan that I seem to remember some fragments about from a time long ago when I was tooling around town in my black 72 Europa in southern california. but, that was about 30+ years ago and I don't remember much...?.i'm hoping someone else knows lots about this car, and can fill me in on its history......because it appears to be something truly special. it is Dan Griffin's black race S1 Elan. I can remember that it was really beautiful back in the day, with its big flares and custom 3 piece magnesium wheels. I recall it was stupid quick too. i'm curious as to what people remember about it, race series history, and as much as I can so I can decide what next to do with the car. it has been sitting for many, many years and is in the state of dis-repair at the moment. any info or leads are greatly appreciated. tomo DRIVEN.CO

The photo looks like it has a S3 body (the photo looks like it has the full extended truck lid) and instrument panel.
I don't know much about Southern California (Cal Club?) sports car racing. Any comments?

Looking at the photos it looks like it has S1/S2 doors and door handles, the long S1/S2 trunk lid hinges, but the long trunk lid, The long trunk lids with the long recesses for the early hinges were only on early Coupes I believe, so possibly a replacement bodyshell?
