Specialised welding / fabricator (ideally) in East Anglia

PostPost by: Frogelan » Wed Mar 06, 2024 3:03 pm

Hello all,

I have been trying to get some small welding jobs done in the Suffolk-Essex area which is where I am trying to restore my car!
(The restorer helping me does not have welding facilities).

This is proving to be so difficult to execute (some firms take in the parts then return them unwelded as they "do not have enough time") that I may have to get this done in France.

Examples of jobs to be done: sump baffle, seat frames, exhaust parts...

Before I do this in France, can anyone recommend a thoughtful, enthusiastic welder fabricator anywhere in the South East or East Anglia ?

Weird. Where I lived in Texas, I guess because of the oil industry we had about 3 or 4 small welders "no job too small" Not to mention a few race shops near by that would do some work. On the other hand a trip to France sounds pretty nice too.

You could try EAB just outside Thaxted: https://www.eabclassiccars.co.uk/metalwork

Ed who runs the place has been very helpful to me for small jobs and his workmanship is excellent. He was apprenticed down the road at P&A Wood, noted worldwide for their attention to detail on Rolls Royce and Bentley cars. If you do go there, have a look at the marvelous Blower Bentley he built up himself, based on a Mark VI.
