+2 WANTED in the U.S.A.

Happy New Year!

I've regretted selling my '68 +2 from the moment it left 12+ years ago. Does anyone have a reasonably priced example for sale over here? I'm in the Midwest (MN to be specific) but not afraid of shipping the right car. Also not afraid of SOME work. I'd like something drivable or better.

Email me at [email protected]

Thanks for the time and consideration!

Aaron

One of the very best Plus 2 Elans in the world will be going up on auction next week at Gooding in Scottsdale:

That's a nice car and all, but a bit of hyperbole there

Lovely, but I doubt CABC's personal car in equal condition would sell at those prices - especially with a replacement engine.

Anyone have a lead on one in THIS universe? :-)

I was going to say.. when you say you want something that is driveable and you're prepared to do some work, I imagine that precludes a $50k + overpriced example from a poncy auction house.

What a pity you're not in the UK. A forum member sold his white Plus 2 for just ?10k the other day. Bit of a bargain, I think.

Aaron:
I am a couple of months ahead of you.
Sold my Plus 2 29 years ago when I moved to the States, and just purchased a "replacement" in November and got it back to Nebraska in time for Christmas.
This is definitely the place to be watching, I found that by watching this site, Hemmings, Bring-a-trailer, Ebay and www.carandclassic.co.uk I got to see just about everything that was on the market.

However, if you are OK with a RHD there are some great deals in the UK and assume that it will cost you around $4500 to $5000 to ship it across in a container (based on a recent transaction I just completed).
Good luck with the search.

The price is just an auction house estimate. Keep an eye on it, I'd say. The original engine comes
with the car. You can sell off the stroker for some $$ back. PHP (builder) is very reputable. I had
my 1720cc engine built by him.

I found mine using a Craigslist search engine which I'd check most days.

You don't get many here so need to be checking under all the rocks and accept you're going to have to buy what you can find rather than what you want unless you really aren't in any rush at all. The good news is there isn't a lot of demand that puts you in a stronger position as a buyer.

Good luck with the search.
