6 Speed Sprint For Sale

PostPost by: elanfan1 » Fri Mar 23, 2018 9:13 pm

I'm not going to be able to drive my Sprint so the time has come to accept that I'm going to have to sell it.

The car has to a large extent been rebuilt by Ken and Neil Myers to their exacting standards. There will be jobs that need completing. I'm not going into full details here but if a serious buyer wants a very high quality car they can view it in Northampton.

Jan 1973 on an M registration (reg May 74) Type 36 rebuilt with a new DHC bodyshell, paint by SMS in Lagoon Blue over white. THE prototype 6 speed box is fitted. Engine rebuilkt on original bores with 47000 miles, hardened valves. Sundym glass. Lotus galv chassis etch primed and painted black

There's an incredible waiting list to get a car into the Myers so this could be a rare chance to own a Myers restored car. It won't be cheap so I would appreciate that anyone hoping for a bargain doesn't ask. Thanks all.

Enquiries by PM please.

Check your mailbox. Also if you get in touch with Jeff Cocking you can probably get your original login back.

Hi Steve, It looks like a very fine Elan. Can you please elaborate on THE prototype 6 speed gearbox, as I am not familiar with it?

Mazda MX5 6 speed gearbox as developed by Ken and Neil Myers. Gearstick emerges exactly where it should. The box was installed in an S3 mule to prove and test it. There is an article by Alan Morgan in CL News? where he reported on it after taking it for a test run. The box was then removed from the S3 stripped to check all in order and rebuilt before installing in my car. Subsequently they have done around another 7/8 conversions I believe.

I know one owner has driven his through France and over the Alps and back without it missing a beat. Another on here did his own conversion and has it in a BDG engined Elan that puts out phenomenal power and again it's been well up to the job.

Here's a link to a thread on 6 speed box.
Was handed over to Spyder but apparently they didn't pursue it fully? - not shown on website.
