1969 Lotus Elan S4 for sale

PostPost by: wzehring » Sun Oct 21, 2018 8:20 pm

I am happy to post my 1969 Lotus Elan S4 for sale.

The car has received numerous upgrades by the previous owner (alternator conversion, CV joints, stainless steel header and exhaust, and more) and during my time I have had the water pump, clutch, front and rear seals, front disks and bearings, and right rear hub carrier replaced. Most recently the head was refurbished with new valves and guides. Carbs rebuilt. Fresh belts. Radiator recently flushed and leak tested. Not the original engine, but it is running superbly. Compression numbers are 145, 150, 150, and 155. The car will come with numerous original and extra parts, tonneau and Technalon car cover, original steel wheels (two are out of round) and manuals, including Buckland's book and an extensive collection of receipts dating back to 1982.

The car presents well, with some stress cracking, chips and blisters (the car was last painted in 1984 and won first place at LOG IV, in the hands of the previous owner). The interior is clean and neat with the seats showing minor blemishes and one short tear. The dash top is somewhat misshapen (sun and heat exposure). Top and tonneau are in excellent condition. This car has been well taken care of by myself and the previous owner and has given me many pleasurable weekend miles.

The car is located in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, near Wilkes Barre and convenient to I-80 and I-81.
Please contact me through the list and I will be happy to send you much more information on the car and arrange for a visit. I'm asking $30k, negotiable

Cheers,
Will Zehring

Will, You don't sound like a "Lout" at all ! Must be some previous owner that you are referring to... :-)

Looks like a nice car. Next time I am in Mountain Top I will look for it, unless it has been sold by then.

YIKES! Took me a while to find the typo, but it's been corrected. No disrespect meant to the Marque! And, by all means, stop by when you're in the area.
cheers,

Yikes, LOG 4. We are on LOG 39 this year. That was over 30 years ago. Hopefully you have done some maintenance since then.:)
Just kidding of course. Nice car. I hope you find the right buyer for the car.

I remember this car from LOG IV, it was very nice. Still looks good.

I'm interested in info on your Elan, but new to forum and don't seem to have authorization to direct message you. Can you message me?

Dear all;

After discussions with friends and fellow elan owners, and considering the time of year, I am thinking that my original stated asking price was on the ambitious side. I want to emphasize the price is negotiable and I am open to offers. Perhaps it would be better to state that my 'bottom line' is in the neighborhood of 26K.

I have attached a more detailed summary of the car (at least I hope I have!). Please feel free to PM me and I would be happy to discuss the car further with you.

thanks,
Will Zehring

Your car is a steal at that price Will. If I didn?t already have two Elan?s and a Europa I would be very tempted.

Dear all;

I'm happy to report that my elan has sold. Its going to a person new to the marque and I'm happy with the sale. Thanks to everyone for their support, encouragement and interest in the car. I'll soon be lotus-less. We'll see how long that lasts.....

cheers,
WZ
