Hi Gareth,
[on a PC.. somethings are different from a mobile].. if you click on the name of the item poster you should see an option to send a private message. it just helps to keep your personal e-mail from being harvested by the spambots.
you are able to edit your posts , to remove e-mail, etc.. I'd suggest you also comment on what has been editted (eg "personal data removed")..
