Two Project Elan S1's for sale

PostPost by: mdwracer » Mon Dec 04, 2023 8:36 pm

Hello,

It is with a bit of reluctance that (again) I am selling my two Lotus Elan projects. The simple fact is life/family/etc is dictating there will not be time to take these on...I last offered them for sale back in 2020 and since I had clean dry storage I was not very motivated to move them...that is going to change...I am losing some of my storage space and I will be selling at least 5 cars! I'm going to attempt to sell 8 various cars and the first five fix my storage issue.

TWO 1964 Lotus Elan S1's

Medici Blue January 1964 car 26/3342 (chassis 0391) ; engine LP1029

Cirrus White June 1964 car 26/3641 ; engine LP1642

#3342 is a January production 1964 S1 (currently black , but original Medici Blue) with matching frame, engine, and driveline in very good restorable condition. Last painted in 1980 and stored since that time.

#3641 is a June production 1964 S1 (original Cirrus White) with matching frame, engine, and driveline but is disassembled from a restoration that stopped over 20 years ago.... It is as good of candidate as the other car.

Both cars have Certificates of Provenance verifying the block and head stampings. Both cars have no apparant accident damage and the bodies are in very good condition without any of the usual stress cracks and both don't have fiberglass splitting at the lattice work in the rockers. Both have chassis data plates and have the correct Webers, and original guages, etc, etc...

I had started collecting extra parts since 2012 when this journey started and everthing I have related to an Elan goes with the sale. Pictures to follow...

Complete package $38,000 USD. Cars are located in Louisville KY and available for inspection. Please email or phone instead of a private message.

Photos did not come through.

Bummer...that you are selling and bummer that I was not aware of this sell a couple weeks ago. I was in Louisville the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Would you consider splitting the two cars? I am interested in acquiring an S1 project but I don't have the bandwidth for two.

I have a friend in Houston who’s also looking for a project, might have an easier path to selling if you split them up.

Might be easier to ship to the UK from Houston also, not sure

Hello all,
I have decided it’s time to split up these two cars, as the white car is somewhat disassembled I would like to sell it first so potential buyers could look at the other car to get a better idea of what’s there…
I would price the Cirrus white car at $16,000 and the Medici Blue car (pictured as black)
for $17,500 or I will sell both as package for $32,000 and with that price include all the extra parts bought separate over my 10 year ownership. All prices are in US dollars.
Best Regards,

Mike I wish I had the space. That said, I'm also impressed how many formula car racers own Lotus Elans....

Hi, I have resolved my Elan need by buying a restored Series 1. I hope you find good homes for both of your projects.

Just joined the club and your ad grabbed me. I am in the process of selling a series 1 Seven that I just rehabed and will need a new project. I live in E, Tennessee so the trip to Louisville would be doable. Assume after reading your ad that a trade would not interest you. When I have an opportunity I would like to come see what you got. I, too, raced a FF1600 for a number of years. I raced a Swift DB6. Great car.

Sold it an bought an Elan that is very close to hitting the track. Scheduled to race the new, to me, Elan in March

I focus on one restoration at a time. At the beginning of a restoration there are dozens of things to do. But occasionally near the end of a restoration I run out of things to do on one car because I am waiting on someone else for a paint job or machine shop work. On those occasions it's nice to have another project with LOTS of things to do on it.

I can't think of anything better for these two Elans than having TLC restorations by the Zog! Can't wait to see the end results. Have fun.
