Zetec in a +2, extractors.

Hi,
After several years of other activities I am finally close to fitting a tweeked Zetec engine to my +2.
I would like to hear ideas and view photos as to the shape and type of extractors used in other swaps of this type.
There is not much room down there and the Engine mount gets in the way.
I live in Australia so the car is RHD.

I think you're talking about the Exhaust manifold?
If you're using a standard Lotus Frame then space will be tight.
More space available with the Spyder tubular Frame.
I have a Zetec tuned to 185 bhp in an S4 with Spyder tubular Frame & Lotus 4 Speed G/Box.
All 4 primaries go around in front of & under the Engine Mounting (4 into 1 System).
I recommend that you buy a Manifold flange & take the whole Car to the Man who will be making the Manifold for you.
He will be able to bend, cut & weld to match your Engine, G/Box, Cross Member, Roll Bar etc.
Alternatively Spyder should be able to provide a finished Manifold to suit a Zetec with MT75 G/Box in their Frame.

Les, endorse everything that John has said. Just a thought, are you intending the exhaust to have a side exit or follow the original Lotus routing with a rear tailpipe.

Overall, be prepared for some compromise as there is not enough room under the car for a normally sized exhaust. Low ride height (good for handling and looks) will equal lots of exhaust scrapes. I briefly thought about using some oval tubing but costs rapidly rise going down this route.

A good point Gerry, thanks.
My 4 into 1 mild steel Manifold ends in a 2,5" round tube, the S.St. Pipe under the Car makes an immediate transition into "ovalised" & then back to round to enter the TTR special Silencer.
The area surrounding the G/Box, Clutch slave Cylinder etc., is especially tricky & is best tackled by the fabricator with the Car in his Workshop.
