Just my two penneth,in the pdf, Page 3, Modifications,I would not alter the selector finger from "round" to "square" as selection of 1st,2nd,3rd,4th is lateral movement which is O.K. The problem occurs in reverse/5th selection which is angular and we all know that squares dont like angular movement....

Hi, Csico,

Welcome to the Forum!

My opinion... FWIW...

I personally would not use the Lotus 5 speed with such a powerful motor. I had one of the second generation Elite (501?) cars and it came with a busted box. I used the car for about 1 year only as I did not like it and when I sold it it was showing signs of problems again. :? The gearbox had been rebuilt by Lothian Sports Cars before I took delivery of the Elite.

Just my humble of course.. Up to you. Best of luck whatever you decide and like everyone else. Keep us up to date with how it goes.. Start your own new thread to keep us informed.

Hi all,

Well this topic seems to have developed itself I think. I suppose this addition is just a quick up date really.

I've now decided to keep with the original engine and box(for now).its better economics.so I've had an automotive electrician look at her.as soon as he has the time a complete rewire with the EFI installation will take place and a fresh MOT to boot.So hopefully with fingers crossed,in march ill be up and running.

Its taken a while but there's light at the end of the tunnel.
