As a previous poster feared, this installation involves removal of the rear seats in the +2 :shock:

I have attached drawings of modified Mk 1 Escort roll hoop. The rear supports are carefully cut off, ground to refit, and rewelded to the hoop, and to cups which are secured by the rear tower bolts. The legs are shortened and brackets made up from 50mm box section welded on. The brackets are bolted to a fabricated mounting which is bolted to the middle and rear inner sill plate. The mountings are bolted in place and the bars tack welded (MIG) in position to accurately locate before final welding.

This installation requires the rear seats unit to be removed. I have replaced these with two plywood locker boxes each side of the tunnel, and a full width bench lid. The firewall required by FIA regulations between fuel tank and passenger compartment can be seen in one of the pics.

I have also fitted a bar between the inner and outer seat belt mountings, to which the racing seat mount is welded , and another bar between the front sill plate and the opposite chassis bolt.
