Look at the size of the "modding and Elan Forum"

Then look for Singer Porsche, Eagle Jaguar.....

I do think it will sell, but I may run out of patience, return it to "stock" (whatever that is on an Elan ;) ) and then sell the mods.

Not trying to cause offence or anything....... Looking at your pictures the trims missing and need of a good clean inside let it down. Maybe even take it some where nice and get some better pictures (also make sure the bonnet and doors are closed properly and watch the shadow on the sill which make it look like the bottom edge of the door is stuck out)

Realistically i don't see why you shouldn't be getting people at least making offers at ?35k but the fact your not means there is some thing obviously putting people off (as a purist i don't see anything on your car that is more than an afternoons work to return to standard, it's not like you have cut big holes in it)

The Bonnet and Doors looked closed properly to me.
The same as on my 1972 Elan sprint fhc that's to say the bottom of the Doors are not flush unless someone has changed the fit, "they were all like that Sir" when they left the Factory
Maybe the Rollbar is the thing people don't like, which suggests Rallying. Imho it would put me off.

Really? Might just be me (do get a bit obsessive at times)....... i get what your saying about 'thats how they came from the factory' but in this case the doors DO fit well but the angle of the picture/shadow makes them look bad, the bonnet could just be not shut properly, the dash trim/ashtray/centre consul let the very nice steering wheel down and efi high pressure fuel line in the cabin on a road car?? (loads of pictures of the outside/engine and 2 not very flattering pictures of the inside). It's all really minor stuff but it will put people off if it's being sold for top end money.....

From past experience with Classic cars, people are usually sold by the pictures before they even get to see the car in the flesh..... to me the pictures give off an 'Unfinished' vibe.

Hope i haven't upset the owner, i'm just trying to give helpful criticism that gets his car sold (even if i come across badly as usually)

I get what you are saying, but top money is ?45k.... At least that's what all the dealers are advertising them at...

So just looking at the external picture:
1. Wheel trims make a major difference to appearance
2. The car lacks the finishing strip on the front bumper
3. The hood (bonnet) is miles high at the rear edge...

& yes the car has the badly fitting doors...

Those 3 items detract from what looks to be a lovely car & suggest the car was thrown together after a quick respray. Do yourself a favour & finish the car off as she deserves.

I disagree........ Advertised and sold are two very different things, dealer prices will always be a little 'Inflated'. Some one said it earlier that Purists are pushing the prices up, that is very true but at the same time people advertise cars for 'Purist' levels of money but that doesn't mean they are getting it...... I have personally seen a couple of very nice well presented original (purist type) FHC Sprints that have sold recently although through well known Specialists and they have both been around the ?35-38 mark, i think it's not unheard of to see FHC cars exceeded that but they would have to be special or Celeb owners etc.
