Aluminium Steering rack mounts

1 pair of home made - but by an engineer

Aluminium rack mounts c/w bolts nuts and shims that was calculated to remove bump steer (On a Lotus replacement chassis)

Suitable for either Elan or +2 but the shims were set for an Elan

Pictures available on request -

£30 available until the 25th May when they will go on Ebay if unsold

Surely the shims need to be calculated for each individual frame?....

John, I actually agree with you...

Unfortunately, lotus must have had a bad day, we put them on my car for curiosty and found it bang on there as well! I know that 2 isn't a representative sample, but we were very surprised

I mention it because they are there and its pretty damn close on any Elan, I can't even make a guess for +2 because I haven't seen one on a Lotus chassis!

Hi

I've said this before but years ago (when Vic Moore was at Spyder) I rang them about shims missing from a new chassis I'd just bought.

The reply I received was along the lines of "I wouldn't be too concerned- try around 80 thou, that should do the trick".

I just made some out of stainless steel- and they worked! The steering didn't feel any different to the S4 I'd previously had that had been factory assembled.

Only my personal observations (maybe Spyder chassis were more accurately made than the Lotus items).
