From wikipedia

Chapman named the engine "Lotus TwinCam" at its introduction in 1962. However, coinciding with the production switch-over from Cortina-Lotus to the Cortina Twin Cam based on the Ford Cortina Mark II, Ford acquired the rights to the design, and the name was changed to "Lotus-Ford Twin Cam" in 1967.

I'm being 'snotty', I prefer Chapman's name for it

What the engine should actually be called sounds like a good topic for further research and discussion. :D

Miles Wilkins used Twin-Cam thriough his book.

All the Lotus brochures I can find call it the Twin-Cam, and the Ford badge on the Cortina and Escort has TWIN CAM.....it's never been Twincam as far as I can see.

Regarding the twin cam name, I notice the Wikipedia entry has been corrected (difference here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lotus-Ford_Twin_Cam&diff=621762046&oldid=615900844), referencing this site :) The same person also later edited the casting information. A reverse lookup of the IP address shows Australia, so I wonder who that could have been :)
