Cortina Engine 2737E6015A

PostPost by: Briggs1 » Fri Nov 25, 2016 8:26 pm

I have a Cortina engine that looks to be very complete and in decent rebuildable condition.

Everything from radiator fan, distributor, fuel pump, oil pump, clutch, carburetor (note the carb has a crack in right hand top side).

Any idea of value and anyone here have any interest?

That's an early crossflow with vestigial combustion chambers. There werent many of these before they came out with the completely flat head.

The uprated (flat) head was never installed in any US bound cars. The combustion chambered head was the only one to make it here, even with the later engines (711M blocks) found in the Capri and early Pintos. The Fiesta used the flat head, but had much smaller ports and valves.

Circa 1968 early MkII 1600gt engine.

As has been said it has the semi chambered head.

Oops, sorry didnt read the post before carefully enough, my info is only relevant to the UK, I Wonder why they didnt use the flat head deeper piston bowl desing in the USA? - Emissions perhaps? I used to get good power from the earlier ones.
