Lotus Elan

New Elan Plus 2 Alloy Wheels

PostPost by: danielmo » Mon Oct 02, 2017 3:12 am

I bought these wheels from a forum member, but have decided not to use them. They are new, with a couple of scratches from storage. They are missing the center lock rings. They might be available from Panasport or Minilite, now that they are making center lock wheels again. $800/set plus shipping from 98296.

I think there is a center ring that is supposed to go in the middle of the wheel. That is what is missing.

I just compared a pic of your wheel with one at Kelsport in UK.
The have brand new wheels, and they appear to have a ring
of some sort that the wheel nut bears on. Looking to see if
they have that separate

As an aside, does anybody know if that ring-insert is the same or different to the ones used with Revolution wheels?

I have wondered if the new replacement rings are compatible with KO nuts as found on US Plus2s with steel wheels? My KO's have cast into the nut, that they are not to be used with alloy wheels.

i'd say, without putting to much thought into this: the ring A) disributes the tightening and movement loads and B) will certainly make the use of the "wrong" nuts possible. the wear on a steel wheel is by no means evenly distributed as you cab see for yourself - sandy -- PS: i even have a set of 4,5inch brand rims which wear-wise look similiar (1kg less than a orig. steel = 4kgs!!! or a tenth amywheres!!)

Hi,
Is there a member that would loan me a collar for the 10 rib alloy wheel so that I can have some copies made? I will pay for shipping and a deposit if that would help. Prefer state side transaction. Thanks
