Lotus Elan

Elan & Plus 2 Fascia Labels . . . now taking orders :)

PostPost by: Sea Ranch » Mon Oct 30, 2017 7:19 pm

Greetings. Finally getting down to this order. The artwork is done, the proof offered up for suggestions and approval (see this forum thread in the Body/Chassis/Frame area, titled "Plus 2 Fascia Labels Proof . . . Opinions requested": lotus-chassis-f36/plus-fascia-labels-proof-opinions-requested-t40413.html)

I am now ready to accept orders. I will then make purchase from the producer, take delivery in person, then package and mail to you folks. Currently I am planning to use Canada Post and mail from this postal code in Canada: V3V 3A5. I will provide mailer size/weight so you can do your own mailing calculations. Will also provide some sample mailing costs to sample destinations in USA and UK.

Based on 11 orders, all production costs would yield a price of $28.30CA (currently that's $22.07US and 16.71GBP) for one set of labels. These labels will cover all characters for both Elan and Plus 2, as far as I know. If there are more than 11 orders, the cost per order will go down (not a lot, but some). Mailing costs are over and above and will be calculated based on your country and postal/zip code. :)

Payment will be PayPal, please.

You can reply to this thread to let me know your interest. You will have to send me a PM to provide mailing address so I can calculate your mailing costs and totals.

Hope this covers things, to get us rolling. More details to follow :)

Regards,

Randy

There appear to be some missing labels (for the Plus 2 S130). Take a look at this:

http://images.lotuselan.net/lel/10022/0/Dashboard.jpeg

I see:

[square block] HOT WARM COLD [square block] OFF DEFROST INTERIOR (ARROWS UP DOWN 2XLEFT, 2XRIGHT) BRAKES REAR SCREEN HAZARD
DEFROST FAST PANEL INT SCREEN WASH WIPE FAST REAR SCREEN WINDOW HAZARD WINDOW FOG LIGHTS PULL ..and that curved arrow.

Hello,

My deepest apologies for being absent from the forum and this thread for so long. There were a pair of family issues which took over for the last month.

I am back, I believe, and ready to get back onto this file (literally). I am getting in touch with local car owners in order to view in person their fascia and confirm the accuracy (or lack thereof) and get these labels sorted and printed.

Will report back as soon as I'm making forward progress.

Thanks for your patience!!!

Regards,

Randy

Finally back, with good news.

The fascia lettering sets are now printed and in my hands. :) I have 10 sets. Two are spoken for, so 8 sets available for sale.

Will post again later today with exact pricing. I intend to send via Canada Post. I believe they will ship for the cost of a first class letter, but will be confirming with Canada Post later today or tomorrow. I will take payment through PayPal.

So . . . please pm me with your interest and include your shipping/mailing address. I will get back to you with final price and we'll go from there :)

Randy

Update on costs:

$259.61CA for 9 sets of lettering, plus negatives, proofs and taxes. That's $28.85CA per set.

Shipping costs yet to come . . .

Randy

Here they are, along with my partially finished fascia . . . :)

I completely missed this. I have the previous labels that were done but they do not include the arrows. Looks like these labels have both the words and symbols (i.e. I wouldn't need the other set)?

Greetings. Just back from the post office. Been a long journey, it seems! But here is the latest.

Mailing to the UK is $5.90CA and to the US of A is $2.95CA.

I believe my current label cost calculation is 29 bucks Canadian.

I would like to be paid through PayPal, if that's alright. I only want to break even on these, not make any profit.

So, that means:
- selling to the US: $29CA + $2.95CA + PayPal fees (3.7% + $.30CA) = $33.45CA

- selling to the UK: $29CA + $5.90CA + PayPal fees (3.9% + $.35CA) = $36.65CA

Hope that all makes sense. If you're ready to buy, just let me know, make sure you've sent me your full and correct name and mailing address and PayPal email and I'll send a PayPal payment request to your email.

A couple notes.
- The lettering sheets and the results on a fascia look superb. I have used one on my Plus 2S fascia and the font and size and crispness are excellent. The only symbol on the sheet I cannot vouch for 100% is the curved arrow. This is found on a car model I don't have and have only seen very low res pix of. We worked very carefully on this arrow to get the shape, radius, style and scale correct, based on the limited info we had, and when I place it against my fascia and the controls which I believe are the right diameter, it looks good. But someone with a car that needs this will have to see for themselves.

- When these are buried under clear coat, they cannot be felt. They are so thin, there is very little or no mounding of the clear over them, so that when you flat and polish, you feel nothing and only see the beautiful letter/symbol. Having said that, the product itself is fragile. There is no way you could apply these to the surface of a fascia and leave them uncoated/protected; they will rub/scratch off easily (which is also the reason you can rub off a misplaced letter and try again, and why there are multiple copies of every word/symbol ;)

- I have chosen to send these through the postal service in order to keep costs down. Using a larger package and a shipper would greatly increase costs. However, using mail means there is no insurance on the item, and no tracking available. I guess that makes me - and you, if you agree to purchase - a "rambler and a gambler" ;)

Finally, another round of thanks to Scott (Snowy Owl) in Ontario, Canada, for first pursuing this project, establishing the correct font and size, getting the word set down, finding the company to make them, and then graciously allowing me access to his photo masters at the company so I could add in the missing symbols for Plus 2 cars, etc.

Okay. That should do it. Let me know if you're "in" :)

Regards,

Randy

ps. Eagle eyes will notice a couple changes I made on my fascia. I elected to move a couple of the words so they better fit the confined spaces or reflected the function better, and I left out a couple. My preference, and I'm pretty sure the judges at the Van Dusen All British Field Meet will not catch this! ;)
