Lotus Elan

Lotus showroom kiosk

PostPost by: jabingb » Fri Aug 09, 2019 2:07 am

I acquired this from a local dealer sometime in the 90s, think it was during the GM/Lotus era. As you can see, it promoted Lotus by suggesting that one should "Experience the Ten Minute Moment of Truth" Lotus style with a VCR playing that video in the kiosk, and yes I do have the VCR tape. The unit is made of particle board with the green and yellow laminate, it does have some damage at the base, nothing extreme. But the unit is VERY heavy, I suspect 150+# and therefore would be a challenge to ship. If someone was headed to Monterey for the Historics, August 15/18 I could potentially transport it there. I have no idea of the value but consider it a rare, valuable piece of Lotus marketing, reasonable offers considered. For the Lotus owner who has just about everything, spread the word, not just Elan owners. P.S. Weber head NOT included

I know someone who’d rip your arm off for that but unfortunately shipping it 6000 miles would be a non starter. I can just see that perhaps with some glass doors on the front displaying Lotus goodies or alternately a flat screen TV with satellite/DVD box in the bottom. I’m sure someone will want it, Good luck with the sale.

PS some dimensions may help?

The kiosk is 6 ft tall and the footprint is approximately 2 ft square.

Here are more pixs of the unit, not without blemishes, but still a very unique piece for the Lotus aficionado!

Here’s a thought - why not put it on eBay as a one day auction with a reserve and make it collection only or delivery to Monterey. It doesn’t give you too much time to get a lot of views but hopefully someone will want it and can see the benefit of not having to pay for shipping such a large item. Have you asked Dave Beans if they’re interested?

I’m sure carting it to Monterey speculatively wouldn’t be worth the effort.

Again good luck.

Steve, thanks for that idea, might do that and have not approached Ken @ Bean. It's more a matter of space, there's a 26R hovering above my S1 Elise at one end of a longish one car garage and my latest, a '69 FHC residing at the other end with in/out privileges. Jerry

Now I've assigned a price, $500 + crating & shipping, any takers? Local pickup would solve the shipping cost issue.

A long way from you, Greenbrae, CA. Unless you come out to Laguna Seca or Sears Point, the latter is about 15 miles away.

I have requested some quotes via uShip, the tricky part is constructing a crate to safely enclose it, would prefer it be done by the shipping company, once I get the shipping quotes I'll explore how to crate it up.

That's a bit beyond my budget to acquire your great kioska. Thanks for the follow-up! Cheers
