Looks nice. It seems to have the very early side vents.

More like early 69 rather than 71 with those vents and unit number

Looks a nice car.

The bottom of the sill on my Sprint is painted black - is this original? I see lots of repainted cars with the bottom of the sill in body colour (this one included).

On an unrelated point, I count three temperature sensors for the electric fan. Must be a record?

black bottom is original. body paint means they didn't take the time to detail the bottom in black as it came from the factory. That goes for inner fender wells too.

My S4 SE FHC has the early (S3 style) vents along with numerous other 'S3' features (little boot handle and single large (GT40 :D ) crash pad top vent. My car was invoiced out of Lotus in Dec 68 and is an early S4 unit number and carries a UK G suffix plate (Sep 68-Aug 69) allegedly first registered in Sep 68 (according to V5) but this doesn't tally with the invoice date . Quite a bit of crossover of parts and features in the transition from S3 to S4 I think.
