Elan Sprint: Trim Header Rail

PostPost by: umbyfer » Fri Dec 10, 2004 11:47 am

I am looking for any info about the Trim Header Rail, plate ref. n. BC9, part n. 500B0268. It is the part in black plastic on the top of the internal side of the windscreen.

In my Elan Sprint 1971 Federal is missed (it is clear that someone cut it); is it standard or not? is it possible to find it or rebuilt? wich one could do it?

Thanks in advance to everybody!!!

Hi Umberto,

When my Elan was restored SMS replaced this for me. It's just a piece of black upholstery vinyl with foam padding underneath. The foam generally falls to bits after a period of time so SMS use a thin piece of pipe insulation. The sort of grey foam tubes you buy in DIY stores to insulate your central heating pipes. \they just cut a quarter section from the tube. I think the whole part just sticks on and is held in place at the botton by the windscreen rubber and by the rubber seal on the top. My local car trimmimg shop sold me a piece for ?1!!

Let me know if you need a photo
